Spotty Wifi and a Quick Update

Wifi is almost as skimpy as breakfast in these parts.  We are in Pisa, Italy at a little cafe having, yes, pizza.  Yum.

So, quickly.

April 5th, we headed to the city of Bath by train.  We stayed at a lovely B&B there for a couple of nights.  On the 6th, we hired a tour guide who gave us a beautiful tour of a handful of villages of the southern English countryside.  He was a sack full of knowledge about the area, particularly Stonehenge, Woodhenge and the history of the ancient peoples of the area.

We lunched at a little pub in Lacock,  ale pie and fish and chips.  Again, yum.

A walking tour of a tiny town, Castle Combe which seems almost untouched since its beginnings in the late 1200's and a walking tour of the city of Bath, holiday central for the wealthy of the last two centuries were how we spent our afternoon.  The sun came out and took the edge of the bitter cold.

We spent from 8 30 am until dinner time with David the tour guide, who seemed to get a big kick out of children who are interested in history.

Early the next morning, we left the Old Malt House B&B, and headed to the Bournemouth airport to fly to Pisa, by the time we were settled in our little place just off the main square, we headed out for gelato and were swept along in the evening passeggiata.

We ate our gelato on the way to the Campo di Miracoli, where the baptistery, the bell tower (Leaning Tower of Pisa) and Duomo are.  It was early evening, and those who were old enough climbed the tower.  Those who were not, and their mother stayed at the bottom and were sad.

And then, quote of the day, "I'm sad six year olds can't go up the bell tower.  Oh, well.  It doesn't lean that much anyway."

Pictures coming tonight.
